Marriage licenses are obtained through the Registrar's office in the Borough of Old Tappan.

The Municipal Clerk's office recommends that any couple contemplating marriage should contact the Registrar's office at (201)664-1849 at least 2 weeks prior for further information and an appointment.

Where to Apply for a Marriage License:

• Marriage licenses are only valid in the State of New Jersey. 
• If the bride lives in Old Tappan and is being married in New Jersey, the couple must apply in Old Tappan.
• If the bride and groom live out of New Jersey but the marriage is taking place in Old Tappan, they would apply in Old Tappan. 
• If the marriage is taking place in New Jersey but the bride lives out of the state and the groom lives in Old Tappan, they would apply for their license in Old Tappan.
